Celebrations!
● We are almost to spring! So close! Although we still have some cold days, so please keep sending your kids ready to play outside at recess with at least a coat or jacket. Also talk to them about NOT playing in the mud and the pools of water. We have a lot of wet and muddy spots around the playground area and the areas right next to the building. There is no way we can prevent them from playing in it…but maybe if mom says, yeah you will be scrubbing your own muddy pants that might deter them a little! :)
● We had an AWESOME One Book, One School event and our first annual Literacy Night was incredible! Just like STEAM Night we had over 350 people here celebrating our book, playing games, exchanging books and having a great time. Thank you to the amazing PTO team and the FLIGHT Crew for making it happen! Prizes for the final family quiz will be handed out this week!

Parent Input for Next Year's Classes
● Boundary Change Heads Up for Next Year ○ Unfortunately, we have caught wind of a few folks that are still unaware that their student is part of the group that will be headed to Providence Elementary next year. In the hope that there won’t be any late surprises, we highly recommend that you visit the CCSD website to verify which school your child will be attending if you are still not sure. Basically, if your house is SOUTH of 100 North in Providence (the main road coming up past Spring Creek Middle School) your students will be going to Providence Elementary. This is the main section of RHE students that are moving to Providence. See the link below for the CCSD transportation maps.

Attendance
●This is just a reminder that we aim for missing no more than 10 days per school year. We ran a report last week and currently have just over 100 students that have already missed more than 10 days. We are in our last trimester and our big finish as we wrap up the content for the year and begin to review for the Utah Rise Assessment. We would appreciate your support and focus on coming to school every day for the rest of the year (besides sickness! ;)). Every day makes a difference and missing multiple days makes it very difficult for students to catch up and understand current material…which often makes them not want to come to school. Please help us help your student by simply getting them here. Thank you!
A Word From the PTO
- Thank you to everyone who participated in our book exchange and Literacy Night! We were happy to see so many families – thanks for your support!
Fun Run It's coming.....not! :)
Actually…..it isn’t! We know you are all expecting the launch of the Fun Run for the PTO fundraiser for next year, but the PTO voted earlier this year to postpone the fundraiser for the 2026-2027 school year to next fall. With the boundary changes, shifting of students and changes in PTO Boards, they (in consultation with PTO members from Providence) all agreed this was a better plan in this unusual situation. Please gear up and be ready to support the fall fundraiser, whatever we do, so we can continue to fund our awesome RHE PTO traditions next year!

Helping Kids Handle Testing
At some point or another, almost all children have to endure teasing from friends, classmates, siblings, etc. For many children, teasing by others is temporary, but for others, teasing is more frequent. When teasing is frequent, children need to seek advice from their parents/guardians first. The best thing parents can do is to teach constructive ways for their child to respond to teasing, and then show them support.
Gather information- First, ask your child specific questions: what’s the teasing about, who is doing the teasing, and where is the teasing occurring? Keep track of this information to see if there are any patterns, and notice if your child is doing something that might be encouraging it.
Teach appropriate responses- There are many ideas children can try when responding to teasing. Have a discussion with your child about what they feel comfortable doing. Here are a couple of ideas to try:
1. Ignore it. Many teasers quickly give up when they find they don’t get the desired response. Parents can teach their children to ignore teasing by turning and walking away without saying a word.
2. Find someone to help. Talk with them about finding a trusted adult close by that can help your child feel safe.
Practice- It’s important to practice the responses with your child. Role-play the situations. Parents can take the role of the teasers and have their child practice their responses. This will help them develop confidence when confronted with teasing and feel more prepared to handle it. Provide lots of encouragement- Once your child comes up with a method that works, support them in their efforts. Make sure you express how proud you are of them for trying
Spring is coming!! Woohoo!
